Namaste! I spent an incredible two months in Nepal learning about the culture, the people and had the honour of working with some of the most beautiful children I have ever encountered. This is all about my experience in Nepal, and how people who lead such simple lives had such a huge affect on my own. x

Hi. If you didn't already know i'm a tourist.
Early in the morning on the 17th of July 2013 I boarded a coach from small time Torquay venturing to London Heathrow, with my doting mother in tow. Apparently travelling up to the airport on my own and having a small, unemotional and subtle good bye was not an option with my loving mother. My family stood in a line, coincidentally they stood in height order and I remember this humouring me thus preventing any tears, waving manically and displaying large toothy smiles. As the coach pulled off amidst what should have been excitement came nerves and a sense of nauseating anticipation in the pit of my stomach. I thought to myself 'What in God's name are you doing? A combination of feeling particularly distressed and happening to have the money caused me to spontaneously sign up for six weeks in Nepal teaching.. so here I go.. Off to Nepal with little travelling experience.'
Might I add I had always intended to volunteer abroad and approaching 22 it was time to start travelling, but I thought it would be an organised procedure, not a whimsical decision. Nonetheless, I had taken a plunge in the deep end. Having no expectations or idea what was in store for me.
Me at Heathrow airport screaming first time traveller.
